Will Intertraffic Amsterdam be Postponed Due to the Coronavirus Epidemic?

More than 30,000 people are expected to visit Intertraffic exhibition which planned to be held in Amsterdam between 21-24 April 2020. The 80 percent of respondents in the social media survey want the exhibition to be postponed. RAI, the organizer of Intertraffic, seems to insist on not cancelling the exhibition.

More than 30,000 people are expected to visit Intertraffic exhibition which planned to be held in Amsterdam between 21-24 April 2020. The 80 percent of respondents in the social media survey want the exhibition to be postponed. RAI, the organizer of Intertraffic, seems to insist on not cancelling the exhibition.

Most international events have been postponed or cancelled because of the coronavirus epidemic which is affecting the whole world.

Light + Building exhibition which scheduled to start on 8 March 2020 in Frankfurt/Germany, be postponed to 27 September 2020 after the epidemic spread to Europe. However, the announcement of postponement was made 10 days before the start date of the exhibition and this caused victimization for exhibitors and visitors. Public transport exhibition IT-TRANS which scheduled to take a place in Germany between the dates 3-5 March 2020 is also postponed because of the epidemic.

The survey on the social media with the #Intertraffic #ITA20 hashtags asked to the participants that “Do you think Intertraffic Amsterdam fair, which is planned to be held in the Netherlands between 21-24 April 2020, should be postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak?“, 80 percent of respondents in the social media survey want the exhibition to be postponed.

Among the participants of the exhibition are 89 companies from China and 61 companies from Italy. Airlines had cancelled flights to China to prevent the spread of the virus. In this case, it is not possible for Chinese companies to participate to the exhibition anyway.

Exhibitors and visitors of the Intertraffic want from them to make a decision regarding the postponement of exhibition as soon as possible. Even the exhibition is not postponed, there could be a severe decline in the number of visitors due to travel restrictions and health concerns.

Update (11.03.2020): Intertraffic Amsterdam has been postponed to 23-26 March 2021 due to the coronavirus outbreak.
