Signify introduced a new generation of Philips LED lamps with the new energy label A. The new lamps consume 60 percent less energy than standard Philips LED lamps and offer a lifetime of up to 50,000 hours.

According to the new regulations of the European Union, a lighting product must provide a light output of at least 210 lumens per watt in order to receive a class A rating. The new four lamps introduced by Signify meet this criterion. Philips’ new LED lamps need 60 percent less power to provide the same light output as standard LED lamps, thanks to their high luminous efficiency.

Philips’ products complying with the new regulation have 2.3 W and 4 W power consumption and are available in two different color options, White (3000 K) and Cool White (4000 K). LED lamps with 2.3 W power consumption give 485 lumens of light, while 4 W lamps provide 840 lumens of light.

Consumers can recognize Philips’ new Class A LED lamps by the green packaging of the product. On the other hand; It is possible to calculate the luminous efficiency by dividing the lumen value of the product by its power. E.g; If the LED lamp with a brightness of 840 lumens consumes 4 W of power; The luminous efficiency is 210 lm/W. This indicates that it complies with the new energy label A.

Philips’ new LED lamps are on sale as of September 1, 2021, when new regulations on eco-design and energy labeling become mandatory in European countries. Energy labels for other products in the Philips LED range are also planned to be gradually changed to comply with the new EU legislation.
